Fashion Week events in New York, London, Milan and Paris were held in September 2013. Even though the spring fashion week collections were revealed a while ago, we are looking back at the jewelry that hit the runway and street fashion during that month to prepare us for what we will see trending this spring and summer.
Statements Made
Statement pieces were a big hit on the runway. These included huge earrings, embellished necklaces, giant rings, and more. For example, both of these models are wearing huge, extravagant necklaces; however, although distracting, they do not take away from the patterns and colors on the girls’ dresses.
‘
In street fashion, you can see this girl pairing a simple t-shirt with an extravagant flower necklace, showing a casual look can always be spiced up with something that sparkles.
Chains, Chains, Chains
Chains were also a hit at the runway shows. Large, gaudy, metallic chains were seen in every shape, color, and size.
We carry a variety of chains in our jewelry collection. Check them out here. We also have a ton on clearance.
Stacking Bracelets
Stacking bracelets is another trend we can expect to see during the warmer months. A style that we loved seeing on the runway was the “warrior bracelet” look on these models.
You can achieve a similar look by combining bracelets together. Stacking bracelets is a fun way to spice up a simple dress, and you can make it your own style. Wear thick gold bracelets, skinny ropes, braided fabrics, leather bracelets, bangles, or whatever else you want!
Chokers Are Back
Chokers are making a comeback on the fashion scene. There were many new and interesting interpretations of chokers on the models, from a simple string of jewels to large, metal chokers. We will probably see girls implementing this look into their day and night wardrobes during the spring and summer.
Gold, Gold, Gold
Gold definitely made a statement this year on the runway and in street fashion. You will be able to find this vibrant, metallic color on plenty of accessories this season.
Primary Geometry
Geometric shapes and primary colors could be seen throughout fashion runways. For a while, alternatives shades of colors, like mauve, burgundy and sea foam, were very popular. Fashion is returning to the primary colors we all know and love. Also, the use of squares, circles, triangles and other geometric, rather than organic, shapes are becoming more prominent in the fashion scene.
Overall, fashion week showed us some very fascinating spins on traditional jewelry pieces. There were pieces that were large, extravagant, light, delicate, and artistic in many different ways. After seeing the 2013 spring fashion week collections, we are excited to see what kinds of jewelry will come out this coming September.
